This Malaysian rendang (pronounced rehn-da:hng) is a fiery blend of organic, single-origin spices that can spice up to two pounds of protein, enough for a hearty meal for four.

This blend follows the traditional style of Minangkabau-style rendang, which was brought over to Malaysia by migrating Indonesians in the 1400s. Their distinct style of cooking traditions has been upheld for centuries.

You will absolutely love the fiery heat and complex flavor of this rendang spice blend. To make it, you simply combine the spices with coconut milk and add the protein–it's delicious with chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, or extra-firm tofu. Let it simmer until the protein is tender and then serve over rice. It's that easy!

About the maker: Auria's Malaysian Kitchen is based out of Brooklyn, New York City. Auria was born in Malaysia and learned how to cook delicious meals in her mother's kitchen with Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences. In college, she prepared traditional Malaysian meals for her friends and in 2011 she hosted an underground supper club series where she continued to cook her favorite dishes for her guests. All of this influenced her decision to launch Auria's Malaysian Kitchen with the goal of getting incredible and authentic Malaysian food into the hands of the American public.
